A funeral service celebrating the life of V. Anne Slater, age 83, of Hebron, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, at Hebron Christian Church, 612 West Main Street, Hebron, with Pastor Chris Whitehead officiating. Burial will take place in Kirkersville Cemetery.Anne was born January 23, 1932 in Coshocton County, Ohio to the late Aaron Dent and Hallie Louise (Wilson) Darling. She passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Arlington Care Center in Newark.Anne was a 1950 graduate of Hebron High School. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a hardworking and dedicated farm wife, helping her husband, John, on the family farm. She was a faithful member of Hebron Christian Church where she led the Youth Group, sang in the choir and served as a trustee and the financial secretary. She served the community as a 4-H Advisor for many years and was a member of the Junior Womens Club and enjoyed pulling the yearly float in the Hebron County Fair with her Farmall tractor. She was an avid OSU Buckeyes fan and was known for her collection of hats, especially her OSU and Pioneer Seed Corn hats. She loved caring for her family, driving, canning and working on the family farm.She is survived by four children, Nancy (Bryan) Dunkel of Circleville, Martha (Dave) Cable, John (Penny) Slater and Mark Edwin (Jessica) Slater, all of Hebron; eight grandchildren, Aaron (Beth) Dunkel, David Cable (Jessica McIntosh), Drew Cable, Dean (Jocie) Cable, Daphne Cable, Christian Slater, Samuel Slater and Abigail Slater; great-grandchildren, Trinity Leiser, Gunner and Granger Cable; several nieces and nephews; and grand-dog, Gage.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John D. Slater, whom she married April 24, 1954 and who passed away on May 8, 2011; and by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Sally Darling.Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street, Kirkersville, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebron Christian Church, P.O.
