Valerie Paige Matheson-Zeune, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a best friend. She never met a stranger, she did everything in her power to help those that were in need of something she could offer. This could be seen in her many pursuits over her life from public safety to fire and EMS to customer service and hospitality. She always wanted to give and very seldom asked for anything in return. Valerie touched the lives of everyone she encountered in many ways but to those closest to her, she was the foundation of their existence. To her immediate family she inspired so much hope and encouragement for every lesson life threw at them. She was always a phone call away no matter what the time of day and what she had going on, she always picked up the phone for those that needed her reassurance or just the sound of her voice. Though she may be gone from this life physically, not a moment will pass by where Valerie is not in our hearts and minds. She and all of those that have gone on before, are still a part of our lives each and every day, she will never truly be gone from our hearts. She will live eternally in the love that she shared with the world even after her passing. Valerie was always a proponent of donating and in her passing gave life to complete strangers that will be blessed by her life’s gifts. Please remember in Valerie’s honor to do the best you can for those around you and through kindness, make this world a better place. Grief is the word we use to describe the feeling of loss but today is not a day for loss, today is a day to cherish life in all of its richness and spread hope to those in your life. A memorial service, celebrating Valerie’s life, will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. at the Kirkersville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 285 E. Main Street, Kirkersville, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. “Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.” ― Stephen King
