A funeral service celebrating the life of Velma K. Decker, age 78, of Westerville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Rocky Brown officiating. Burial will take place in Kirkersville Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 am-1 pm on Monday at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street, Kirkersville. Velma was born April 20, 1938 in Waynesburg, Kentucky to the late Barrett and Sally Ann (Leek) Singleton. She passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Velma retired in April of 2016 from McNaughten Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Reynoldsburg where she had been assistant dietary manager. She enjoyed reading, quilting and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Irene (Mark) Geiger of Columbus and Norma Decker (Randy Brackens) of Pataskala; grandchildren, William Pope, Charlotte Brackens and Leah Powell; great-grandson, Noah Korbel; siblings, Kathleen Evans, Virginia Toepfert, Rev. Bobby Singleton and Margaret Irene Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Arnold Decker, in December of 1998; and by fourteen brothers and sisters.
