Vera Marie Massie

Graveside funeral services, celebrating the life of Vera M. Massie, 96, formerly of Thornville; will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 South Main St. in Thornville.

Vera passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2020 in South Carolina, where she had been living with her daughter for the past six years.

She was born June 28, 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Edward and Beulah (Puff) Ritz. She was a lifelong homemaker and loved taking care of her family.

Her husband, Charles Benjamin Massie, preceded her in death in 1989.

She is survived by her loving family: son Kenneth (JoAnn) Massie of Delaware, Ohio and her daughters Kim (Bobby) Jasper of Lancaster, Ohio and Katrina (Michael) Cashdollar of Summerville, South Carolina, with whom she made her home for 31 years; her grandchildrenStephanie (Adam) Dimar, Maggie (Joe) Grubbs, Ann (Fred) Crumb, Jessica Ingram, Jami (Dwayne) Potter, Zacariah (Cara) Jasper; great-grandchildren Carlee, Cooper, Vera Lily, Cole, Joey, Catie, Chris, Maia, Kynndall, Ben, Ashton, Elijah; and great-great grandchildren Caden, Caia and Chloe; her sisters Mimi Graves and Carolyn Russell and her brother Jimmy Ritz; along with many nieces and nephews.
