A funeral service celebrating the life of Vernon Vance Edgington, 85, formerly of Hebron, will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Baltimore, Ohio, where military honors will be observed. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Thursday, February 25th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks must be worn inside the funeral home and for your protection, a maximum of 35 guests will be allowed inside at one time. Please practice social distancing. Vernon was born in Frankfort, Ohio on February 2, 1936 to the late Carl Wilson and Clara (Bay) Edgington. He passed away at The Lindley Inn in Athens County on February 23, 2021. Vernon proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Prior to retirement, he was an instrument aircraft repairman with the Newark Air Force Base. He was a life member of Concord Presbyterian Church; attended First Community Church in Buckeye Lake; was a member of Buckeye Lake VFW; and he enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his children, Timothy W. Edgington, Vernon V. Edgington, Jr., Carol A. (Ronald) Poches and Holly B. Edgington; two step-children, Barbara S. Wilson-Johns and Charles H. Wilson; siblings, David E. Edgington, Charlie A. Edgington and Virginia Aupperle; special friend, Bill Kagle; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelba Jean Edgington; and step-daughter, Connie L. Wilson-Ramsburgh.
