Graveside funeral services with full military honorsfor Vincent James Spiert, 88, of Pataskala, Ohio, formerly of Leander, Texas will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, in Pflugerville Texas, whereVince will be laid next to his beloved wife "Teddy". Vince died on Sunday, February 22, 2015, in Columbus, following a brief illness.He was born in Columbus on January 13, 1927, the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Melfi) Spiert.He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was retired from the US Postal Service.A member of Linden Lodge #637, F. & A. M. of Columbus, and a former active member of Leander United Methodist Church in Leander, Texas.He is survived by a granddaughter Jamie Costas of Texas, brothers Anthony (Marie) Spiert of Pataskala, Art Spiert, and a sister Mary (Walter) Ulry, brother-in-law Jim Wilkinson;along with many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Matilda "Teddy" Spiert, son Vincent Spiert Jr.,siblings Ann Russell, Lucille Wilkinson, Carmen, Richard, Nick, John and Joe Spiert.The family received friends in Ohio on Tuesday evening, February 24, 2015, from 6 to 7 p.m.when Masonic Services were conducted.
