A funeral service celebrating the life of Virgil Roscoe Clark, Sr., age 92, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 16, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Brother Jeremy Hupp officiating. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
Virgil was born December 1, 1932 in McFarland, West Virginia to the late John W. and Gae (Deem) Clark. He passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at his home.
Virgil retired from Rockwell International. An avid deer hunter for over 35 years, he got his first deer in 1959. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by four children, Virgil R. “Chip” Clark, Jr., Chuck (Brenda) Hupp, Ruby (David) Bush and Diane (Glenn) Johnson; 24 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Haught; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie B. (Hoyt) Clark on February 12, 2005; and by a son, Robert M. Hupp, Jr.; a daughter, Donna McClain; a sister, Evelyn Deem; and seven brothers, Marion, Harold, Gale, Russell, Cody, Richard, and Raymond Clark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road NE, Newark, OH 43055.
