Virginia Lee Schaff

A funeral service celebrating the life of Virginia Lee Schaff, age 92, of Etna, will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Reverend Stephen Applegate officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkersville Cemetery.Virginia was born in Piedmont, Oklahoma on September 5, 1924 to the late Gerald and Ruby (Eades) Tackwell. She passed away at her residence on October 29, 2016.Virginia was a member of the Etna United Methodist Church, where she served as childrens choir director. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Music degree. She was a professional singer of sacred music and a real estate developer. She sponsored conservation and organic farming efforts, and enjoyed spending time as a tree farmer on her farm as a keen observer of nature and wildlife. Virginia was a founding member of the Center for New Beginnings Domestic Violence Shelter and served on the Etna Board of Zoning Appeals.Survivors include her devoted son, Mark Joseph (Gema) Schaff; loving granddaughter, Sarah T. Schaff; nieces, Tiana (Don) and Christy; nephews, Steve (Cindy) and Val (Amy); and numerous friends.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Joseph F. Schaff; and brother, Gerald (Elizabeth) Tackwell.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Virginia to Etna United Methodist Church.
