Virginia R. Pierce

A funeral service for Virginia R. Pierce, age 91, of Gahanna, formerly of Newark, will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Rev. Kristin Santiago officiating. Virginia was born in Dresden, Ohio on August 29, 1922 to the late Herbert and Nellie (Dickie) Skinner. She passed away on February 25, 2014 at National Church Residences in Gahanna. Virginia was a member of the Heath Lions Club; Navy Mothers Club; and the Licking County Life Again Club. She loved the sunshine, watching birds and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye football fan. She also enjoyed socializing with her family and friends and loved everyone she met. Survivors include her two sons, Lewis (Georgann) Pierce of Newark and Ronald (Katherine) Pierce of Gahanna; step-son, Scott (Sandy) Penrod; three grandchildren, Tabatha, Kyle and Taylr; two great grandchildren, Brayden and Braxton; niece, Janet (Ronnie) Steinbrook; and nephew, Jackie (Martina) Lang. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first spouse, Weldon Pierce; second spouse, Walter Penrod; and sister, Eleanor Lang. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Virginia to National Church Residences, 165 Stygler Road, Gahanna, OH 43230. Friends may call at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
