Wayne J. Nelson

Wayne J. Nelson, 86, of Newark passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on October 26, 2015. He was born in Newark on June 29, 1929 to the late Eli Akem and Coella (Lambert) Nelson.Prior to retirement, he worked for Holophane for over 35 years. He was a member of the Newark Eagles Lodge; he enjoyed working in his yard and watching old western movies.Survivors include his children, Joyce (Kenny) Keaser, David C. Fisher, Diana Fisher and Tamara (Jay) Beckett; grandchildren, David (Kitty) Tanner, Donna Tanner, Kami (Stuart) Burrows, Holly (Kris) Yarnelli, James Nelson II, Aaron (Billie Jo) Messina, Alesha Messina and Nicole Fisher; son-in-law, David E. Tanner; 17 great grandchildren; two great greatgrandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. (Butler) Nelson; sons, Wayne Albert Nelson, Steven Alan Nelson and Earl Ray Sonny Fisher; daughter, Rebecca Tanner; granddaughter, Jannell; four sisters; and nine brothers.Family will received friends on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Wayne and the Nelson family.
