A funeral service celebrating the life of Wendell R. Cooperrider, age 68, of Newark, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Fairmount Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 29, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Wendell was born October 30, 1949 in Newark, Ohio to the late Floyd and Hazel (Wilson) Cooperrider. He passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Linden Grove in Menomonee Falls, WI. Wendell was retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation where he had been employed as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Land of Legend Tractor Club and enjoyed collecting and repairing antique tractors. He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Mike) Wallace and Kristy (Andy) Smith; two granddaughters, Kiera and Lilian Wallace; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Martin and Janet Bixler, Jr.; two nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Joyce A. (Bixler) Cooperrider, whom he married March 22, 1969 and who passed away on August 2, 2016.
