Wilbur was born May 26, 1933 in Kathryn, West Virginia to the late William Howard, Sr. and Lillie Faye (Moore) Gwinn. He passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital in Newark.

Wilbur was a veteran of the United States Army and faithfully served his country from May of 1953 to May of 1955 during the Korean War Conflict. Wilbur was an active member of the Hebron Church of the Nazarene where he sang in the church choir, was an usher and a greeter, assisted with church transportation, and participated in the yearly nativity. He was fondly known for handing out mints and candy to the children at church. An avid sports fan, Wilbur’s favorite team was WVU Mountaineers. He enjoyed gardening, singing, listening to music (especially Bluegrass Gospel) and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy L. Gwinn, in July of 1974; and two brothers, Bobby Edward Gwinn and William Howard Gwinn, Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebron Church of the Nazarene.
