A funeral service celebrating the life of Wilda M. “Billie” Ritchey, 93, of Pataskala, will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Pataskala, 405 S. Main Street, Pataskala with Pastor Gary Brose officiating. Burial will follow at Pataskala Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Billie was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 27, 1925 to the late Otis and Ilena (Bowman) Dunkle. She passed away on August 4, 2018 at Mt. Carmel East. She worked for Curtiss-Wright during WWII. After the war, she worked for the downtown Lazarus and prior to retirement, she was a journalist for the Pataskala Standard, where she wrote the column, “Reflections of a Chatterbox” by Jenny for many years. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pataskala, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Quest Club back in the 1950’s and 1960’s in Pataskala. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for Pataskala local troops. As an active member of the Pataskala community, she helped orchestrate the 1970’s funding for the building of the Pataskala Community Pool. Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Fred) Goldstein; grandchildren, Deanna Ritchey, Melanie (Josh) Hoskinson, Jeremy (Chelsea) Goldstein; great grandchildren, Bryce VanWinkle, Celeste VanWinkle, Jovi Hoskinson, Korbin Goldstein; nieces, Doris Crego, Kay Crego, Jan Whitis; long-time friend, Jeanie Montgomery; and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Ritchey in 2005; son, Larry Ritchey; sister, Wanetta Vanatta; and brother Paul Dunkle. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Billie to West Licking Historical Society or to the Berean Ladies of First Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
