Willard H. Sheley

A funeral service celebrating the life of Willard H. Sheley, age 92, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 592 West Main Street, Newark, with Pastor Deb Dingus officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Willard was born April 15, 1929 in Granville, Ohio to the late Frank E. and Blanche E. (Smith) Sheley. He passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Arlington Care Center.

Willard retired from Tectum, Inc. in 1992 where he was head machinist and was fondly known by his co-workers as “Sid”. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed building model ships and planes.

He is survived by two sons, Rodney Alan (Georgia) Sheley of Heath and Douglas Curtis (Charmaine) Sheley of Newark; grandchildren, Allison (Eric) Hendrickson, Carolyn (Joe) Jones, Erin (Dante) Smith and Charles Sheley; great-grandchildren, Bryn and Ethan Hendrickson, Alanah and Kiarah Smith, Eden and Owen Jones, and Cassandra and JoAnn Sheley; and many nieces and nephews who fondly called him “Uncle Bud”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Eileen (Smith) Sheley, who died June 4, 2008; and by a brother, Searl Wilkins; and three sisters, Ruth Kennedy, Martha Durig, and Helen Parker.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio.
