William E. Ayers, age 92, of Heath, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 following a brief illness. Bill was born August 7, 1929 in Newark, Ohio to the late William and Delphina (Gray) Ayers. He attended Hanover-Toboso High School and served in the United States Army (1951-1953) stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Bill was employed with the Roper Corp. and Newark Stove as a shearman, and later, Westinghouse, from which he retired. Bill loved all sports, particularly football, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Bill is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Ruth (Wolfe) Ayers; three children, Randy (Joyce) Ayers, Belinda Sue (Phil) Ragno, Karen (Mark) Sensabaugh; six grandchildren, Angela Ayers Hile, Teresa Ayers Hughes, Kristina Sensabaugh Dudgeon, Anthony Ragno, Joseph Ragno and Kyle Sensabaugh; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Reed and Ruth Vincent; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Ayers and sister, Delores Pethel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. The family will observe a private graveside service at Newark Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 with Pastor Dave Pagura officiating.
