William David "Dave" Cunningham

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William David "Dave" Cunningham, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on Thursday, April 8th, 1965, in Newark, OH, William passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, at the age of 59, in his hometown of Newark.

Dave was a dedicated and skilled vending machine technician, proudly self-employed throughout his career. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit were admired by many in the community.

Dave had a passion for life that was evident to all who knew him. A devoted fan of Cleveland Indians baseball, Cleveland Browns football, and Ohio State Buckeyes, he loved cheering on his favorite teams. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending leisurely days at the beach. His interests extended to construction and building projects, where he demonstrated his creativity and craftsmanship. Above all, Dave cherished spending time with his family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Sue (Bailey) Cunningham; children: Kassondra Cunningham, Michael (Jessica) Cunningham, Savannah Nelson, Jacqueline Robbins, Stephanie (Isaiah) Saling, Natosha Bailey, Brandon (Charis) Mechling and Chelsea (Keith) Holland. He also leaves behind his cherished sisters: Melanie (Dave) Hickman, Jennifer Cunningham, Brenda (Larry) Dotson, and Darla Lacy. Dave was a proud grandfather to 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and his loving dog, Lorna, was always by his side. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. Cunningham and Marjorie Cunningham, and two beloved grandsons, Rhys and Levi.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Dave touched are invited to celebrate his life at a visitation on Monday, February 10th, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service in Newark, OH. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
