A graveside funeral service, celebrating the life of William “Bill” Frazier, 100, of Newark, will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Newark Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Nick Shaw officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Bill was born in Nashport, Ohio on June 6, 1920 to the late Ray Stockton and Bertha (Stevens) Frazier. He passed away at his residence on December 20, 2020, with his loving wife, Myrtle, at his side. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, in the 104 medical battalion. On D-Day, June 6, 1944, Bill’s birthday, he swam into Omaha Beach to help liberate Saint Leaux. Bill had a master’s degree in French and taught French at Newark High School until he retired in 1980. Bill had a very giving, caring heart and helped many people who were less fortunate. He worked hard and appreciated his life and saw good in everyone. He will never be forgotten. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Myrtle (Glover) Hardy Frazier; children, Frances Caroon, Margaret Bowman, Susan Frazier, David Frazier and Steve Frazier; step-children, Dennis Hardy and Masha Joan Hardy Tudor; Joshua Ford, whom Bill considered a son; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Dick” Frazier; sister, Rebecca Hunkins; and his first wife, Betsy Tyler Frazier.
