A funeral service celebrating the life of William L. Weekley, 97, of Newark, will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Rusty Foley officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkersville Cemetery with military honors observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, one hour prior the funeral service on Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. William was born in Licking County, Ohio on December 31, 1920 to the late Wesley and Margaret (Gillette) Weekley. He passed away on May 14, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was a maintenance engineer with Kaiser Aluminum for over 30 years. He was one of the founding members of the Jacksontown Volunteer Fire Department. He belonged to various tractor clubs and he enjoyed collecting and tinkering on tractors and motors. Survivors include his loving daughter, Jacquelyn (Thomas) Showman; granddaughter, Lori (Eric) Uhl; step-grandchildren, Scott (Tammy) Showman and Phil Showman; great grandchildren, Jared and Alex Uhl; and step great grandchildren, Jesseka, Jacob, Alexus and Dakota Showman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Smith) Weekley; grandson, Toby Bond; and sister, Helen.
