William M. "Bill" Short

A funeral service celebrating the life of William M. “Bill” Short, 55, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, two hours prior to the funeral service on Thursday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Bill was born in Newark, Ohio on December 1, 1967 to the late William F. and Alberta Lorraine (Thompson) Short. He passed away at the OSU Medical Center in Columbus on February 4, 2023. He enjoyed listening to music, golfing, playing pool, woodworking, and doing yard work. Bill was extremely intelligent, had a wealth of knowledge, along with an uplifting and funny personality, and never met a stranger. Most important was the time he spent with his loving family, pets and friends, and will be missed by everyone that knew him. Survivors include his children, Brooklyn (Jack) Short Bogdan, Robert Blake (Natasha) Short and William Jacob Short; granddaughter, Vienna Everly Short; sister, Betty Fox (Bud Myers); brother, Daniel (Tonia) Short; niece and nephews, Eric (Jessy) Richeson, Michelle (Josh) Crawford, Matthew Short, James (Sandra) Short, Brian (Sandra) Short and Michael (Marla) Short; closest friend, Dave Haren; spouse, Cindy Short; and many other friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Short and Thomas Short; and nephew, Jarrod Fox. The family would be grateful for memorial contributions to be made to Lifeline of Ohio, since Bill was a multiple organ recipient. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
