Funeral services, celebrating the life of William Raymond Mahr Sr., 79, of Somerset, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, in the chapel of the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastors Fred Lockhart and James Schumauch officiating. Burial will follow in the Mifflin Township Cemetery, Gahanna.William died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in Lancaster. He was born in Columbus on August 28, 1938, the son of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Schaffer) Mahr. He enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR, camping and spending time with his family.He is survived by his family: his wife of 61 years, the former Betty Lockhart, whom he married on August 4, 1956, his children: Deborah Griffith, William (Judy) Mahr Jr., Pamela (Steve) Knight, Teresa Crist, Randy Mahr, Kenneth (Brenda) Mahr; his 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; along with his sister Ruthie Davis, and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Herbert Mahr.The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 10:00 a.m.Memorial contributions may be directed to Mrs Betty Mahr.
