A funeral service for William Guy Ours, 75, of Hebron, will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main St., with Pastor Brian Harkness officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkersville Cemetery. William passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was born in Akron, on October 17, 1938, son of the late Everett Eli and Zella (Gainor) Ours. He was a graduate of Hebron H.S., class of 1957, a standout basketball player, and a member of the Lakewood Hall of Fame. Honored as one of Americas 500 oldest towing companies in 1990, William owned and operated Ours Garage & Wrecker Service, Inc. for 50 years. He was instrumental in bringing towing and recovery education to Central Ohio. He was a past President of Towing & Recovery Assoc. of Ohio, 1996 WreckMaster of the Year, past Board Member of Towing & Recovery Assoc. of America, 1998 Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame Member, Chattanooga, TN., and a recipient of the Towing & Recovery Assoc. of America National Citizenship Award in 2002. He was a past Chief of the Hebron Fire Dept., past President of the Hebron Business Association, and a sponsor of Lakewood Youth Baseball Teams. In 1994, William was selected as the Licking County Commissioners Citizen of the Year. He was a member of the Hebron Masonic Lodge #116, the Licking County Scottish Rite and Aladdin Shrine. As well as, a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, and a board member of the Harbor Hills Civic Association. He was an avid collector of license plates and toy trucks, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Diana (Clark) whom he married on December 20, 1958; sons, Kevin Ours and Greg (Brenda) Ours of Atlanta, GA.; grandchildren Brandon (Courtney), Colt, Jessica and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Logan, Paisley and one on the way, Eli; brothers, Jesse (Pauline), Art (Pat), Paul (Faye) and Dale (Patty); sisters Evelyn Clay, Liz (Jerry) Morgan and Judy (Ron) Dupler; brother-in-law Phil Clark; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Kirkersville Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. where Masonic Services will begin at 7:45 p.m. The family will have a celebration of life reception at the Hebron New Life Church following the funeral service on Thursday, from 1:30 to 3:30.
