William Rorrer

William Guy Rorrer, 75, of Hebron, Ohio passed away August 20, 2017. He is survived by his loving daughters Debra (Mark) Mecozzi of Gahanna, Christel (Cory) Best of Dublin, grandchildren Meredith Mecozzi, Olivia Mecozzi and Lindsay Best; sister Eva Jane Martin of Parkersburg WV., numerous extended family and friends. William, was born to Guy and Elizabeth (Bailey) Rorrer, in Crumpler,WV. July 25, 1942. He moved to Kirkersville, Ohio with his parents as a child and graduated from Watkins Memorial High School in 1960. William proudly served his country in the United States Air Force 1961 to 1966. He often shared stories of his time in the Service and the interest he developed in air planes. He worked as a Quality Control Engineer with Rockwell International from March 1966 to August 1995, which at the time was the largest machine shop in the world. In the 1970s he was a Lieutenant with the Kirkersville Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a fire fighter and an EMT. He was a member of the Kirkersville Post of the American Legion and later a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed hunting with his beagle and playing cards. William lived in Marysville, Newark and Hebron. Later in life he married Shirley Morgan and they were loving companions until her passing in June, 2017. Following retirement he made over 150 quilts and 500 pillows. The activities that brought him joy included spending time with his grandchildren, gardening vegetables, as well as following the space station and shuttle. He enjoyed professional and leisure fishing on Lake Erie, Buckeye Lake or a friends pond for walleye, perch, catfish and bluegill. He liked watching the History and Weather channels and staying current with local and national news. Family and friends may attend a memorial visitation on Friday August 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hoskinson Funeral Home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville. Memorial contributions may be made in Williams name to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Dr., Heath, Ohio 43056.
