A funeral service to celebrate the life of Wilma Mae Douglas, age 89, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Martindale officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.Wilma was born in Glendale, WV on April 24, 1925 to the late Lawrence and Florence (Crow) Frank. She passed away at her sons residence on October 12, 2014.Prior to retirement, she was medical secretary at Licking Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. Wilma was accomplished at the art of needle point, taking third place in a national needlework exhibition competition. In her younger years, she played the piano. She enjoyed reading, cooking, bird watching, going to the beach and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.Survivors include her sons, Larry (Luanne) Douglas of Newark and Stephan (Lana) Douglas of Newark; daughters, Harriett Slifko of London, OH and Lynn (Paul) Swick of Chatham, OH; grandchildren, Marci, Stephanie, Josh, Carrie, Stevie, Nate and Dannah; great grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Emma, Kelsey, Brock, Hunter and Kareana; special friends, Dwight and Phyllis Slifko; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Douglas in 1998; brother, Larry Frank; and sister, Harriet Nocifora.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Wilma to Heartland Hospice.
