Winifred T. "Winnie" King

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Winifred T. “Winnie” (Kelley) King, age 91, of Thornville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 5133 Walnut Road in Buckeye Lake with Father Michael Nimocks officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Thornville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 56 S. Main Street in Thornville.

Winifred was born October 12, 1932, in Framingham, Massachusetts to the late Thomas F. and Mary Frances (Rennie) Kelley. She passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.

Winifred was a military officer (Captain) of the United States Air Force. She worked as a surgical nurse, belonging to Framingham Hospital Nurses Association and retired from the United States Post Office.

Winifred was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary #342. She also belonged to the Perry County National Farmers Association, helping her husband farm his family farm in Thornville.  Winnie was very active in her community and participated in many local projects.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Raymond F. King, who passed away in February 2009; brothers, Frank Kelley and Ronald (Betsy) Kelley; and sisters, Claire (Roy) Bertrand and Mary (Andrew) Nealley.

She is survived by her foster daughter, Janet (Hodge) Ganci of Fort Washington, PA; and many nieces and nephews; along with many friends, including her dear friend, Julia Cooperrider.
