Zelinda K. Owens

A Celebration of Life Service for Zelinda K. Owens, 72, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Steet, Newark, on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Zelinda was born in Cinderella, WV on July 27, 1951. She passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on August 10, 2023. Prior to retirement, Zelinda was a medical staff specialist with Licking Memorial Hospital for over 15 years. She had previously worked at Dow Chemical and Owens-Corning Fiberglas. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafting, cooking, shopping, listening to music, but most important was the time she spent with her loving family and friends, and will be missed by everyone that knew her. Survivors include her children, Antwan T. (Kim) Spivey, Sean C. (Carley) Spivey and Brenden M. Spivey; sisters, Brenda Owens and Claudine Bitting; grandchildren, Lakailah, Jaycie, Brynlee and Jackson; aunt, Shirley Owens; cousins, Frances Owens, Wilbert H. Owens Jr. and Victoria Owens; numerous second cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Spivey. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Zelinda to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
