Zelma Eileen Martin

A funeral service celebrating the life of Zelma Eileen Martin, age 89, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Wilson Cemetery.Zelma was born January 25, 1926 in Thornville, Ohio to the late Fred Leo and Sylvia (Miller) Starkey. She passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Arlington Care Center.Zelma was a homemaker and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening, flowers and jewelry.She is survived by five children, Tom (Pat) Martin, Donna Nixon, Elizabeth Hottinger, Nellie (Chuck) Phelps and Mary McKiernan (Jamie Strohacker), all of Newark; eleven grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gay Martin, Jr., on March 11, 2005; and by three grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, three brothers and four sisters.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Zelma and her family.
