Zenna Lee Harrison Sayre, Buckeye Lake, was born November 3, 1922 at Adair, OK to the late Joseph Linn and Florence H. (Davis) Harrison. She died April 3, 2015 at her residence.She married William M. (Bud) Sayre in Memphis, TN in 1974. She designed and built their home on the North Bank of Buckeye Lake and joined Bud in the operation of Sayre Brothers Marine until he retired in 1982. As a sole proprietor she operated the business until 2008 at the age of 85. She had added a clothing line to the business and did style shows until her husbands illness in 1991. Bud passed away on February 4, 1997.Zenna was a member of Buckeye Lake Yacht Club.She and her husband originated the first Antique and Classic Wooden Boat Show there in 1981.A member of the committee to make Buckeye Lake a Village, she supportedthe first Buckeye Lake Village owned Fire Department and was Trustee Emeritus of the Greater Buckeye Lake Chamber of Commerce.She was a retired memberof the Homeland Security Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Buckeye Lake Civic Association. As a lover of animals, she was a supporterof the new Licking County No Kill Humane Society on Thornwood Dr., Newark, Ohio. As the youngest child of a widowed mothersince age 9, she went to work out of high school. During World War II, Zellaran a stockroom for one of Douglas Aircraft Wing Assembly plantsin Tulsa, Oklahoma and then American Airlines Headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Zella spentthree years in Ohio with her first husband, William H. Moore, who was sent there to store war equipment in the former Newark Air Force Station. She spent one blustery year in Erie, Pennsylvania with Kaiser Aluminum, did a one year stopover in St. Louis, and then transferred to Fort Worth, Texas as a placement counselor at an employment agency.Her husband was transferred to Memphis, Tennessee where she was the director of employment for a computer school and later worked in the Micro Dept. with the IRS.Zella andBillalso operated a part-time charter service with a 42-foot Chris Craft Cruiser on the Tennessee River. After her divorce from Mr. Moore, she married Bud Sayre, sold the Cruiser and property on the Tennessee River and moved to Buckeye Lake. Although she had been a basketball player in school, she soon fell in love with Ohio State football and would tease her friends by showing up with the Oklahoma State or Texas A & M hat or shirt on.Besides her mother and father, she was preceded in death bythree sisters,three brothers and their spouses andeleven nieces and nephews. She is survived by Linda Kay (Steve) Thomas of Houston, TX, Donna Sue (Gail) Osborn of Adair, OK, Betty Rose (Estel) Walkingstick of Muskogee, OK, Allen Harrison (Tena) of Claremore, OK, Mike (Jet) Harrison of Adair, OK, Dale Hughes (Deanne) of Las Vegas, NV, niece-in-law, Rebecca Miller and her children, Avery and Austin of Granville and Dublin, along with her devoted friends, Tim and Dianne Ryan and Andrea (Chris) and Nico Davis.Friends may call on Monday, April 6, from 6-8 p.m. at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, where a roast celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Bud.Memorials are to be directed to the Buckeye Lake Historical Society, PO Box 1, Buckeye Lake, Ohio 43008.Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, Kirkersville, is honored to care for the Sayre family.
