Jean Audrey Henderson

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Jean Audrey Henderson, 99, of Thornville, formerly of Mt. Perry, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in the chapel of The Thornville Home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, 56. S Main St. in Thornville. Audrey will be laid to rest next to her husband Gene in Mt. Perry Cemetery.Audrey died peacefully early Saturday morning, August 23, 2014, at her home. She was born in Mt. Perry on October 2, 1914, the daughter of the late Chauncey and Mae (Bare) McCullough. A long-time resident of Mt. Perry, she retired as the postmistress of Mt. Perry. An active member of Mt Perry Presbyterian Church, Audrey played the organ for many years, taught Sunday School and belonged to the Ladies Aid and Missionary Society.She is survived by her children Nancy Bland, Charlene Hill and Mark Henderson, along with her daughter-in-law Iris Henderson, grandchildren Lonnie Hill, Leslie Cooper, Luther Hill, Jay and John Henderson, Rob and Rusty Bland, Randy and Bryan Henderson, Erin Stevens, Lorenda Coakley and Tonya Hartzel, 28 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gene Henderson in 1991, her son James Henderson, brother Bernard McCullough and sisters MaryLou Krofft and Ann McCandlish.The family will receive friends on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home, 56. S Main Street in Thornville and again on Tuesday from 10-11 am prior to the funeral service.The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Mount Perry Presbyterian Church, 13099 Church St, Mt. Perry, Ohio 43760, in Audreys memory.
