A funeral service celebrating the life of Joseph Adam McDaniel, age 43, of Granville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 67 North Fifth Street in Newark with Rev. Martin P. Gehring and Rev. William J. Rauch officiating.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
Joe was born March 19, 1979 in Newark, Ohio to Randall Orville McDaniel and the late Susan Janette (Buxton) McDaniel. He passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus following a brief but valiant fight with cancer.
Joe was a 1997 graduate of Newark High School. He was employed as a consultant and field service technician with Masterleo, Inc. and was formerly employed with Tamarack Farms Dairy where he was lead lab technician.
Joe was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Newark where he served on the church council and was assistant treasurer. A true family man, Joe loved traveling and spending time with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors, the mountains, and was a lover of everything Star Wars and Star Trek. He was known to be a coffee connoisseur. Joe loved going to see live music and spending time with his friends. A very kind person with a generous heart, Joe was known to help anyone in need in his quiet and thoughtful way and loved the challenge of figuring things out. He had a beautiful, generous soul and in his last act of kindness, he donated the gift of sight so that others could see all the beauty in this world. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nikki McDaniel, whom he married July 31, 2004; a son, Ethan McDaniel; daughter, Laura McDaniel; his father, Randy McDaniel; brother, Jerry (Janeil) McDaniel; sister Jenny McDaniel (Kyle Seitz); nieces and nephews, Hailey McDaniel, Bennett McDaniel, Gabe Washburn, Chloe Washburn, Amelia DeClark, and Will DeClark; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Elaine Washburn; sisters-in-law, Ashley Washburn and Becca (Jeff) DeClark; and countless incredible friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home for the Ethan and Laura McDaniel Education Fund. Please make checks payable to Kathleen McDaniel.
