Linda Marie Young

A funeral service celebrating the life of Linda Marie Young, age 71, of Newark, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, August 17, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Linda was born July 29, 1947 in Buckhannon, West Virginia. She passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).

Linda was employed with Big Bear/Giant Eagle for over 20 years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Newark and enjoyed riding motorcycles, shopping and loved her little dog, Polly.

She is survived by three children, Rachel (Mike) O’Reilly of St. Louisville, David (Nikki) Young of Newark and Angela Spaulding of Arcanum; six grandchildren, Austin, Tanner and Kelsey O’Reilly, Rika Young and Ashley and Alex Vanick; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Rodney and Keith Sothen; her mother, Thelma M. (Chips) Sothen; sisters, Karen Ardrey, Sharon Field, Donna Gregory and Rhonda Ferry; brother-in-law, Howie Andrews; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Young, who died January 7, 2015; her father, Andrew G. Sothen; a brother, Sonny Sothen; and sisters, Jan Andrews, Gladys Williams and Sissy Sterling.
